The Beauty of Imperfection - Wabi Sabi

I often think about how the imperfections and flaws are part of what is absolutely natural materials are so beautiful. This is what makes all of us imperfect people nice, too! I think a lot of people feel that way, but maybe we are in the minority? If not, then the diamonds would not be so popular. I am always amazed at the gems and mineral collections in museums, and the rough rocks with bright splashes of color and interesting formations of crystals. What is more surprising is that the perfect cut gems to attract a larger crowd, kept in a separate dark room with lights for better viewing, and they should be worth more. It is so strange.

The same is true in humans, in my opinion. I was inspired to write this post is very inspiring article Luann Udell, where she talks about how a small imperfection in all of us is what makes us so beautiful, as well as imperfections in the wood like knots and illness make it more beautiful.
